Had a client ask me recently what my thoughts were about including technical training that resulted in her receiving professional credentials that had since lapsed. Her concern was that since the credentials were no longer valid, she would be lying if her resume included them.
My advice to her was simple: She could (and should) list the educational experience and the credentials awarded, while at the same time leaving them off any list of current credentials. Every resume should tell a story, and in her case, the resume should tell the story that she did, in fact, successfully complete firefighter training and was awarded these credentials, even if they have lapsed in the interim.
